Mission Statement

Most churches have rather long mission statements which are often too theologically abstract to express effectively those churches’ reasons for existing. But First Presbyterian Church believes that its mission statement can be both theologically profound and simple. We believe that our mission statement should be so simple that even young children could remember it easily, recite it plainly, and understand it clearly. Accordingly, the mission statement of First Presbyterian Church is as follows:

“We exist . . .

Not for ourselves,

But to love Jesus Christ,

And to make Christ’s love known.”

Worship

First Presbyterian Church of Richmond, Kentucky, seeks to be a community of believers in Jesus Christ, called by God through worship, education, prayer, fellowship, nurture and service to live out its faith in the world to the glory of God.  As Christians, we seek to be faithful stewards of all God's gifts and to build a community that reflects God's love, justice and mercy, continually trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us to discover God's will.
