Dr. Curtis "T" Christian IV 

Dr. Curtis Christian came to First Presbyterian Church as Pastor (Head of Staff) in February of 2008.

Born in Key West, Florida, into a navy family, Curtis grew up all over the country including Norfolk, Virginia; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Charleston, South Carolina.

Curtis finished high school in 1978 and then entered the University of South Carolina where he completed a double major in Religious Studies and Philosophy. He was graduated in May 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.). Following his undergraduate studies, Curtis was matriculated at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, and received his Doctor of Ministry degree (D.Min.) in May 1986.  After his seminary graduation, he served as Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

In late 1988, Curtis became the Pastor of Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and served there until September of 1994.  During that time, Curtis served as an adjunct faculty member of Philosophy and Religious Studies for Saint Leo College.

Curtis returned to Union Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Theology degree (Th.M.) in Early Christian History and Theology.  From October, 1995, to December, 2004, he served as the Pastor (Head of Staff) of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.  While there, he taught part-time as an adjunct faculty member of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Cape Fear Community College.

Starting in January of 2005, Curtis served for two years as Associate Pastor for Adult Education at Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He then served Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst, North Carolina, for about a year and a half as Interim Associate Pastor for Missions.  Curtis now serves at First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Kentucky. He also teaches part-time as an adjunct faculty member of Philosophy and Religion at Eastern Kentucky University.

Curtis is married to Wendy Campbell Christian who is originally from Cumberland, Kentucky. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is currently an accounting clerk with Student Billing at the University of Kentucky. They have no children but have lots of nieces and nephews.

Curtis and Wendy both enjoy movies and hiking.  Although Curtis also enjoys coin collecting, chess, and astronomy; Wendy only tolerates these hobbies.
